WordPlay Festival / Theater / Live at Timucua: “Anyone Can Make Art” Workshop
They call them “plays” so let’s find ways to play! Through games and collaborative creation, we’re going to devise original pieces with methods you can take to your own projects. How can silly games like charades or four corners turn into entertaining performance pieces? How can automatic writing random words become meaningful art? Join us to learn methods of devising works and collaborating in fun, fast-paced ways. No experience necessary, just come ready to dive in, collaborate with new people, and play!
Clark Levi is a director, producer and devising artist focused on collaborative creation and uplifting new voices. He has led workshops on collaborative arts, devising and writing with Central Florida Community Arts, Beth Marshall Presents, West Central Area School District, Flagler College and Orlando Fringe. Through his multimedia company, Lightup Shoebox, Clark co-hosts “Play Date”, a weekly free artistic club at Renaissance Theatre Company. Play Date brings people together for a different creative collaboration every time, whether it’s poetry, improv, trash-art or impossible charades. Clark focuses on new art, new voices and new forms of storytelling. He’s the producer for the annual Play-In-A-Day, co-producer and stage manager for Dickens by Candlelight, and has produced, directed and created world premieres in Central Florida such as Carmilla: An American Gothic and The Devil’s Coda.
