Djoukil: French Swing and Manouche Jazz

October 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

Jazz Series / French Swing / Live at Timucua: Djoukil, a group of five exceptional musicians from Lyon, France, is renowned for their vibrant blend of Django Reinhardt-style Gypsy Jazz, American Swing, and French ballads. Celebrating the jazz and swing rhythms of the 1940s, they have been captivating audiences at swing dances, festivals, and concerts across France for the past 14 years. Now, they’re making their triumphant return to the U.S.

Formed in 2008, Djoukil’s sound is influenced by Gypsy Jazz, New Orleans, and Big Band styles. Their music, dubbed “Swing Manouche,” fuses American swing with traditional European tunes, staying true to the legacy of Django Reinhardt.

Since 2017, Djoukil has enriched their repertoire by immersing themselves in the New Orleans and Big Band genres during their U.S. visits. They have created original arrangements that honor these classic styles, expanding their lineup into a full Swingtet.

Djoukil’s performances are a treat for Charleston, Lindy-Hop, and Balboa dancers, who delight in the lively melodies and rhythms crafted by legends like Fats Waller, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. Don’t miss the chance to experience this dynamic ensemble live!

Special pricing is available for members, students, teachers, frontline workers, veterans, and seniors.

In-person and livestream tickets available.
