EDUCATION

Programs for students and lifelong learners

In October 2016, Timucua Arts Foundation launched its first education initiative, Works With Sounds, to teach music composition to people of all ages and skill levels.

Works With Sounds is a weekly program that combines music making with computer science. Students will create multimedia works of art using coding skills to sculpt audio and visuals.

Composer Jeremy Adams leads the class through examples and composition exercises exploring how sound and silence, organization and disorganization are used to create music.

Topics covered

      • Fundamentals of music theory
      • Basic audio editing
      • Coding skills
      • The combination of visuals and music
Schedule

Classes on Sundays from 2–4pm

Location

Melrose Center
Orlando Public Library
101 E Central Blvd
Orlando, FL 32801

This free class is open to all ages and skill levels. Come learn about music by composing your own in a supportive creative environment. Students should bring a pencil and paper or electronic device for taking notes and writing and drawing.

Please complete the form so that we may better understand your educational background with both computers and music. We look forward to seeing you at a future event.

Works With Sounds is made possible by an Arts Learning Mini-Grant from United Arts of Central Florida.
