May 12th to June 9th (Working live May 12th, 19th, June 2nd, 9th)

Orit Reuben was born in Israel to a family of artists. Her grandfather was an impressionist painter, and as a child she painted alongside her mother, who is also an artist.

In her teens, she immigrated to the United States, where she continued to take in art by regularly visiting museums. Whenever asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, the answer was “an artist.” However, she chose a more secure profession and earned a bachelor’s in interior design at the University of Minnesota.

She moved to Orlando in 2006 for a design position, and in 2009 a traffic ticket led Reuben back to the arts. She contested a speeding ticket and was allowed to perform volunteer work instead of paying the fine. She went to Crealde School of Art, where volunteers receive classes in exchange for hours worked. There, she advanced in her craft, getting an artist fellowship, and later a studio artist position. Today, she is an instructor.

The Impressionist pastel artist paints landscapes en plein air, and paints the figure from life. Orit is member of Pastel Society of Central Florida, a “Member of Excellence” of Southeastern Pastel Society, and an associate member of Pastel Society of America. She is also a signature member of the plein air group, The Florida Painters.
