Mimi Hwang

I am an Asian American Artist, working in an abstract expressionist style. As an ode to my heritage, I seek to create a visual expression of my Chinese ancestry and Western birth, by the use of blank spaces, bold calligraphy strokes and color (“balancing Chinese and foreign, blending ancient and modern”), to portray the breadth and fusion of my influences. I hope my art elicits your expansive emotions, evokes a sense of strength and vulnerability, with the stillness needed to appreciate life and all the mystery of our connection to the universe.

I am currently honored to be part of the Beaux Arts Group and McRae Art Studios, Central Florida’s largest artists collectives. Recent exhibits include Orlando’s Mills Gallery, Faith Arts Village, City Arts Factory, First Thursday Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando Airport (MCO), Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach, FusionFest 2020-21, Orlando Hyatt Regency, The Jonesy Collective Fall Online Auction, the OMA-Orlando Foundation of Architecture, and Arts League of Daytona Beach. I love my home in Winter Park, FL.
