Who knew YouTube tutorials, wine, and some paint supplies would get me here today? I’m what some may call a late bloomer.

Who knew YouTube tutorials, wine, and some paint supplies would get me here today? I’m what some may call a late bloomer. Growing up, I loved anything that was related to being creative, but I didn’t identify as an artist. So for many years I pursued everything but art. Whether it be nursing, sales, customer service, insurance, etc., it was like trying to fit a triangle into a circle. In 2016, I was reintroduced to art. I didn’t know then, but I came to learn that I was meant to be an artist. Since then, I have volunteered at my local hospital in a program called Arts & Medicine for cancer patients & families. I am currently exhibiting in City Hall Orlando & A Perfect Union Gallery, started a small business, and continued to experiment with various materials & most importantly acrylics. Throughout my journey I’ve learned that I have the opportunity to showcase black femininity in such a bold & vibrant way all the while empowering black girls around the world. Ultimately, I want everyone to unleash the beautiful god given light within.

I want to highlight the individuals that are usually looked over in society. I believe that everyone deserves love and to feel seen. I hope that my artwork not only evokes joy, light and happiness but gives many around the world the green light to be the MAIN CHARACTER!

Dafeney will be live painting on 4/14, 4/22 and 4/30. Exhibit is available to view at all April shows.
