VISUAL ARTIST RESIDENCYSabrina Shumaker
Sabrina Shumaker is a Panamanian-American artist born in Texas in 1993. She began her career as a visual artist in Orlando, Florida after watching YouTube tutorials on painting techniques and showcasing locally at art venues.
Through practice she found herself entranced with painting powerful yet delicately ethereal female forms. Over time, she fell in love with the larger than life nature of murals and has since created murals locally for the Women’s World Cup, Howard Middle School, Bloomingdales, Sam Flax and for important causes such as Childhood Cancer Awareness. Her love of experimentation has led her to dynamic bouts of painting, muraling and sculpture; using storytelling through video projects to show the creation, meaning behind the work, and the final piece.
