Kick off National Poetry Month with a reading featuring award winning Orlando and Tampa Bay area writers. Writer and artist, Claire Stephens, will be visually interpreting the reading throughout the evening.

The event will feature:

Artist in Resonance: Ulysses Owens, Jr.

Ulysses Owens, Jr. is Timucua’s Artist in Resonance for September 2020! Ulysses is a Grammy-winning drummer and producer, an artist truly in the upper echelon of the Jazz world. He has recorded and performed with Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Wynton Marsalis, Monty Alexander, Dianne Schurr, Renee Fleming and Mulgrew Miller, just to name a few. For his AiR residency, Owens has chosen to collaborate with Harlem-based poet and musician Daphné Mia Essiet. The two will work together in the Timucua studio to create a world-premiere performance!
