Live at Timucua: Gerald Law II

February 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Gerald’s latest project began in 2020 at the height of the Black Lives Matter protests, following the death of George Floyd. As a black man, a new father, and concerned citizen, Gerald was inspired to explore the issue in a unique musical project. The result is a moving set of compositions focusing on our common humanity. Drummer, composer, and now band leader and singer, Gerald Law II built a reputation as the go-to drummer for Jazz and R&B artists including Blanca, Sisaundra Lewis, and CeCe Teneal & Soul Kamotion. If you’ve seen him play, you know why he’s affectionately called “the smiling drummer.” From his drum throne, Law drives the rhythm and elevates the performance of everyone around him. Having released two albums in 2020 (From G to You: Vol I & Vol II), Law is poised to break out in 2021 with high profile performances, a residency at the Timucua Arts Foundation, and more relentlessly creative compositions and recordings.
