Fernwood Quartet with Frederic Voorn originally performed at Timucua Arts in 2019. This program juxtaposed works by W. A. Mozart and Frederic Voorn. The Fernwood Quartet started with Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue in C Minor K 546, followed by Frederic Voorn’s String Quartet. For the second half of the program, the composer joined the quartet on the piano and performed a movement of Voorn’s own piano concerto. The program concluded with Mozart’s own arrangement for piano and string quartet of his famous piano concerto K 414 in A Major.

About Frederic Voorn:
Frederic Voorn performs both on modern and historical pianos. He often gives concerts with several instruments from different time periods, like in the concert series Toets des Tijds, in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and in Museum Vosbergen in Eelde. He performed at international music festivals, dedicated to authentic instruments, such as Antverpiano in Antwerp, The Geelvinck Pianoforte Festival in Amsterdam, The Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival in Kuopio, Finland and the Amsterdam Virtuosi Festival.

About Fernwood String Quartet:
The Fernwood String Quartet has been formed by players of Timucua’s own orchestra in residence, the Alterity Chamber Orchestra. The quartet focuses both on contemporary composers and on the repertoire from Joseph Haydn to the 20th century. All players – Julia Gessinger, Andreas Volmer, Marla Morgan, and Hanrich Claassen – also regularly play with other orchestras across Central Florida including the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra.
