Summer Camps

Timucua Arts Foundation is proud to offer two summer camps in 2018 – a chamber orchestra camp and a jazz orchestra/big band camp!

Contemporary Chamber Orchestra Camp

age group: 14–21

Dates: June 4 to 15, Monday to Friday, 9 am to noon, with a concert June 17 at 7:30pm

Location: Timucua, 2000 South Summerlin, Orlando, FL, 32806

Cost: $400 per student for two weeks plus a concert. This includes a private link to the concert video recording.

The instruction will be given by members of the Alterity Chamber Orchestra, who are all accomplished chamber musicians with advanced music degrees.

The camp will include listening sessions, sectionals, history and classes, musicianship lectures, and full ensemble rehearsals.

The music will be picked from today’s finest chamber composers, local as well as international.

We have complete backline, all the student needs is his/her wind or string instrument, we own everything else, including a double bass.

Application

A $20 deposit is required as well as a link to a 5 minute video audition of the student playing his/her instrument on any classical piece, solo or chamber in nature.

The deposit is refundable and/or will be applied to tuition if the student is accepted.

Deadline for receiving the deposit and audition video link: April 15th, 2018

We will respond via email by May 1st with the status of the application.

Jazz Orchestra Camp

age group: 14–21

Dates: June 4 to 15, Monday to Friday, 9 am to noon, with a concert June 17 at 7:30pm

Location: Timucua, 2000 South Summerlin, Orlando, FL, 32806

Cost: $400 per student for two weeks plus a concert. This includes a private link to the concert video recording and a copy of Mr. Glazer’s book: Jazz in 7 Minutes a Day.

The instruction will be given by Benoit Glazer, multi-instrumentalist who taught jazz orchestra at McGill University for 10 years, and conducted La Nouba, Cirque du Soleil for 18 years.

The camp will include work from Mr. Glazer’s own method book, listening sessions, sectionals, history and theory classes, musicianship and studio lectures and full ensemble rehearsals.

The music will be picked from Mr. Glazer’s personal collection, some of which is unique to him and cannot be found anywhere else. It will include the basics like Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Herman, etc, as well as latin and soul music.

We have complete backline, all the student needs is his/her wind instrument, we own everything else.
