Alterity Chamber Orchestra

Alterity Chamber Orchestra

Alterity Chamber Orchestra makes the debut of their full 15-pieces ensemble, featuring top local musicians performing the works of acclaimed composers of our time. Julius Eastman’s Stay On It (1973) exemplifies his innovative combination of minimalism and pop-music. Nina Young’s Traced Upon Cinders evokes fading childhood memories, while Amy Beth Kirsten’s Drink Me, depicts the macabre elements of children’s stories and fairy tales. John Adams’ Son of Chamber Symphony exemplifies Adams’ compositional hallmarks: driving rhythms, cheeky musical quotes, beautiful and meandering melodies, and big finishes.

Chakra Khan plus special guests

Chakra Khan

Chakra Khan is Alexandra Love + DiViNCi. The deep, personal writing style, eccentric cadences and lush harmonies of Alexandra’s performance, in concert with DiViNCi’s vast, poly-rhythmic, orchestral soundscapes is perfectly matched. Together, their sound is like smooth electricity, an intense, bass-rich, melodic wind. Their newest album, The Cope Aesthetic, coming June 3rd, is a more jazz-inspired, electronic soundscape than anything else the group has created thus far.
